This year, why not have a Cornish Christmas, and give yourself a little bit of everything?
Feel the untrodden sand beneath your feet and the wind on your face; hear the crash of the Atlantic; put a wetsuit on and feel the sea beneath you, too. But it's Christmas so, equally, what about the warmth of an open fire, the taste of the day's first cocktail, the snugness and comfort of beautiful surroundings?
And what about the sumptuous indulgence of, if you want to, just keeping the wildness of winter behind big picture windows, as you settle in for a perfect Cornish Christmas?
It's your Christmas, after all, so go ahead, do what you like.
Thursday 23 December
Settle in, warm up, unwind. Acquire the habit of indulgence with mulled wine and mince pies. For the youngsters, there's no time like the present: an entertainer in the afternoon, with tea to follow. As for you, take it easy: just blissful relaxation ahead, and dinner at the Jamie Oliver-inspired Fifteen Cornwall.
Christmas Eve
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas … a lovely big breakfast, an away-with-the-cobwebs beach walk and, thanks to the Extreme Academy, free surf lessons for adults and children. Later, there's a puppet show and theatre workshop for the children, too. To follow? Carols, cocktails and, for adults, a delicious Brasserie dinner.
Christmas Day
If a little of what you fancy does you good, at Christmas we think a lot of what you fancy is better. So start Christmas Day with a champagne breakfast then move, via a visit from Father Christmas, to the beach, and then traditional Christmas lunch in the Brasserie. Later (a lot later, if you want), there's tea and Christmas cake, some much needed beach air and then, finally, a Cornish seafood supper to finish.
Boxing Day
What's the rush? If you don't want to, don't move a muscle until after a lovely leisurely brunch. There'll be a treasure hunt and, for the children, a circus skills workshop in the afternoon. You can do as much or as little as you like, and relax, for adults the evening's all about four delicious courses in the Brasserie.
Monday 27 December
You've got to go, true, but not until you've dawdled over a leisurely breakfast.
