Blast off into space with Eden Project

Cornwall’s iconic Eden Project is within easy reach of our location. As well as the world-famous Biomes housing the largest rainforest in captivity, and stunning Outdoor Gardens, Eden offers a year round programme of events for all the family. In this guest blog they give us a taste of what’s coming up between now and Easter.

Family Fun Weekends

Destination Space: 23-24 January, 30-31 January

Included in admission

One for aspiring astronauts! Discover more about Tim Peake’s mission to the International Space Station, and be inspired by the amazing stories, science, teamwork and innovation in human space flight.

During these two weekends of stellar fun, visitors can get hands-on with a range of great activities. Build and fly your own air rocket, to understand the dangers posed by high velocity space junk orbiting the planet. Help solve technical problems using specially designed robot arms. Or simply sit back and relax whilst watching a space-themed family show – complete with authentic space suit.

World Music Weekend: 6-7 February

Included in admission

Two days featuring dance and music workshops, influenced by traditions from around the world; what better way to bring people together and lift the spirits on a winter weekend?

Explore the rhythms of Brazilian samba, and marvel at the skill of didgeridoo playing. Learn an Indian Punjabi dance routine – complete with Indian clothing and bells. On Saturday afternoon, the London Rainforest Choir will perform in the Rainforest Biome, and on Sunday there will be Baka Singing workshops for visitors to take part in. Altogether now… make some noise.

February Half-Term

Survival featuring Stick Man: 13-21 February

Included in admission

Let loose your inner survivor at Eden this half-term, with activities for adventurers of all ages!

Little ones will love meeting Stick Man in the family tree. Older children can pick up essential survival techniques from the experts – they’ll makes fires, shoot blowpipes and build shelters. Meanwhile, get close encounters of the creepy crawly kind with Crocodile Joe and his visiting mini-beasts.

Ice Skating at Eden Project

Ice Skating: until 21 February

Eden has a glittering, glacial indoor ice rink throughout the winter months. But get your skates on – the rink closes after 21 February.

If taking to the ice is not for you, soak up the atmosphere with a rink-side view whilst enjoying a winter warmer from the café.

World Pasty Championships: 5 March

The fifth annual World Pasty Championships take place at Eden on Saturday 5 March – which, by no coincidence, is St Piran’s Day; the national day of Cornwall. This wonderful event celebrates all things Cornish…

Entries come from around the globe, with international derisions of the renowned local dish, all competing to be crowned a world pasty champion and take home a coveted Oggy Oscar.
Plus, there’s a fabulous line-up of local ales and live entertainment – with comedy and music headlined once again by Cornwall’s own singing superstars, the Fisherman’s Friends, who will wow with their blend of shanties and powerful harmonies.

Easter Holidays

The Great Eden Egg Hunt: 25 March – 10 April

Included in admission

Join the Eden Easter Egg-stravaganza with fun for all the family; this year it’s bigger and better than ever.
Are you up for the challenge of the Eden Egg Hunt? Seek out the hidden golden eggs… find as many as you can to exchange for a treat. Then take on friends and family in the eggy assault course, and dip in to more egg-themed games.
