We can’t quite believe it’s June already, but we’re not complaining. Other than sunning ourselves on the beach and playing in the warmer waves, you’ll find us at these other fantastic events around Cornwall.
GWR Polo on the Beach
Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June
The big kahuna of June events! GWR Polo on the Beach returns for its ninth year to Watergate Bay – brining the beautiful, fast and action-packed game to a crowd of more than 10,000 all for free. This year there will be three polo matches featuring some of the UK’s best professional players, horse-stunt shows, beach entertainment, polo Segway, a family dog show, and more, plus the usual festival atmosphere from this popular event. It gallops into action from midday every day, with celebrations running into the first ever Polo on the Beach party on the Saturday night.

Falmouth Classics Regatta
Friday 12 – Sunday 14 June
Beautiful boats from the local area, UK, and the world sail into Falmouth for this weekend event. You’ll find lovingly restored boats built as long ago as 1882 alongside pre-WW2 and other classic designs. The highlight is the Parade of Sail and Power, as hundreds of boats in full sail head out into Falmouth’s inner harbour and Carrick Roads towards Feock – best seen from Pendennis Point. Don’t forget the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival runs over the same weekend. We don’t think you’ll be able to avoid tapping your feet.
Take a trip down to the south coast to enjoy what was once one of the last surviving mid-summer festivals in Cornwall. Golowan has a packed programme of artists in celebration of music, performing arts and theatre, all culminating in Mazey Day when schools parade through a foliage-dressed town. We always love the quay-side fair where you’ll find stalls and rides, and the spectacular firework display best viewed the prom overlooking St Michael’s Bay.
Looe Food Festival
A beautiful backdrop to sample a taste of Cornwall. A large pavilion will house nearly 40 stalls offering food and drink from throughout Cornwall and Devon, including Cornish teas and coffee, Cornish wines, fresh fish and seafood, locally made jams and chutneys and more. There will also be a chef’s demonstration from celebrities and local chefs to inspire you. Or perhaps it’s easier to pay a visit to one of the many food vendors – hog roast anyone?
Polperro Music Festival
A week of free fun along Polperrow’s narrow traffic-free lanes. Alongside live music, and an arts and crafts fair, is a comedy night, the lighting of the solstice bonfire, colourful village carnival and a unique mock mayor choosing ceremony with the winner being wheeled through the town, stopping at each inn before finally being dunked in the sea!
