50 things to do before you’re 11 & 3/4

What better way to explore the outdoors and the shoreline around Watergate Bay than with the National Trust’s ‘50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾‘. A great activity for all the family to dip in and out of.

There’s nothing like the fresh air and fun in the outdoors, especially on the beach. That’s why we’re championing the National Trust’s popular campaign to get children engaged with the world around them. It’s all about exercise, exploration, creating memories and getting mucky.

We’ve already picked out a few from the adventurer, discover, ranger, tracker and explorer sections. Take a look and see what else you can tick off, explore your wild side (and you don’t even have to be under 12 years)…

Fly a kite

Where? On the two miles of sandy beach in front of the hotel. If you are feeling really adventurous you could even take a traction kite lesson with the Extreme Academy

Jump over waves

Where? In the Atlantic Ocean, you can’t miss it!

Go on a walk barefoot

Where? On the beach with sand between your toes!

Check out the crazy creatures in a rock pool

Where? There’s loads to choose from at low tide. You should be able to spot a few crabs and star fish, but please leave them where they are.

Go swimming in the sea

Where? Depending on the time of year you visit will depend on whether it’s with or without a wet suit. The Extreme Academy has full technical wetsuit hire for summer and winter hire so you wont be cold.
