Somersault Festival – 23-27 July 2015

Great music acts, feasts and eating treats, countryside adventures, wellbeing and comedy. Somersault Festival is worth crossing the county boarder for in 2015.

Somersault Festival, Devon

Brought to you by the team behind Wilderness, Somersault is a new festival with a vision beyond the music. It’s about stripped back happiness and outdoor bliss.

So, after catching some of the UK’s top alternative acts you can choose to practice your downward dog with yoga, feast with other revelers at a long table hosted by some of the South West’s best restaurants, catch some comedy, get crafty or venture further into the Devon countryside for a range of outdoor activities such as surfing, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Its location in the rolling hills of North Devon begs for you to adopt this lifestyle. Castle Hill is just 19 miles from Croyde and is the perfect place to release your inner child, and to bring your children along too – camping out under the stars, adventuring, exploring, tree-climbing and much more.

As Somersault says: “Our festival vibe is special: inseparable from that uniquely west coast, laid back state of mind.”

Here’s a taste of what to expect at Somersault Festival 2015…

You’ll find us watching folk superstar Laura Marling on the Friday, Bombay Bicycle Club on the Saturday and the folktronic group Crystal Fighters on the Sunday. We’ll also be championing Benjamin Clementine, Imelda May, Angus and Julia Stone and DJ Yoda for sideways hip hop beats.

Feasting and drinking

Cheesy chips this is not. Yes you’ll be able to get your fill of gourmet burgers from Le Bun, but the pop up restaurants here are really unique for a festival. There’ll be food from Fifteen Cornwall on the Thursday, our favourite Somerset restaurant The Ethicurean on the Saturday, and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage on the Sunday. Delicious.

Yoga at Somersault Festival, Devon

Take a moment of quiet reflection with mediation. Or pamper yourself with beauty therapies including facials and massage. Perhaps yoga on the beach is more your thing? This is a holiday and a festival after all.

Theatre at Somersault Festival, Devon

Best of the rest

We’re sure that kiddies will be kept entertained with a packed schedule of events, but there’s also dance, comedy, theatre and circus performances. You’ll find us at the front of the row for Bristol-based Invisible Circus who wow us every time.

Gypsy camping at Somersault festival

What kind of festival camper are you? The down-and-dirty camper? The boho gypsy wagoner? The bell tenter? The wanna-be-Indian-tipier? The glamper? There’s camping for everyone here.
