#thatsongwhen – Listen to our playlist here

For our latest playlist, we asked the team here at Watergate Bay for their favourite #thatsongwhen – the song and band that reminds them of a particular moment in their lives, and why – here’s what they said about their choices:

Helen, operations:
In your Eyes by Badbadnotgood: “I like this song because it has a real nostalgic old soul feel, but it is actually brand new music.”

Laura, The Beach Hut:
Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. “I went on holiday three weeks ago and every day at 4pm they would make pancakes. Now when I hear this song I’m transported back to my sun lounger.”

Chanele, Reception:
Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones. “Just look out the window and at those rollers coming in.”

Sam, marketing:
I Want A Bird by Current Swell. “These guys drop you on a sand dune in front of a warm, fat sun.”

Holly, designer:
I bet you look good on the dance floor by Arctic Monkeys. “This song began an obsession with Arctic Monkeys that’s still going 10 years later.”

Mel, Reception:
Mr Jones by Counting Crows. “This takes me back to my snowboard season and snowy slopes.”

Nick, Extreme Academy:
anything played by Calexico. “Sometimes I find only a bit of Mariachi perks me up and gets me shaking my body.”

Tammy, Kids Club:
Dream Catch Me by Newton Faulkner. “For me, this song is all about BBQ evenings by the Yarra River, Melbourne, with fabulous friends travelling after our university studies.”

Sarah, the Ocean room café and bar:
Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men. “Driving around Cornwall this summer.”

Nick, IT:
Reckoning Song by Asaf Avidan. “Purely because I just can’t get it out of my head.”

Al, Extreme Academy:
Bad by Michael Jackson. “A carefree youth hanging out in the garage with my brother.”

Mark, developer:
Firesuite by Doves. “Driving around the south island of New Zealand.”

Nick, designer:
Step on by Happy Mondays. “This is the first song my son ever danced to.”

Kate, Living Space:
Keep your head up by Ben Howard: “I saw Ben play at Somersault festival in Devon this year and he blew me away.”

Sarah, marketing:
Hey Now by London Grammar. “I experienced my first Glastonbury this year and London Grammar closed the Sunday night. Stunning.”

Heidi, marketing:
Religion by R.E.M. “If I close my eyes to this, I’m skiing down the slope in Switzerland with my friends.”
