What Lexie Loves – guest blog

Watergate Bay is a great place to for kids to stay, make friends and experience the best that the Bay has to offer. So when self-titled 11-year old bookworm, extrovert and blogger Lexie recently came to stay at Watergate Bay we couldn’t wait to read what she had to say.

“Recently I went to stay at the amazing Watergate Bay Hotel. My best friend had previously been, and she wouldn’t stop talking about it for weeks on end. The first impression was beautiful, with really friendly staff and surprisingly our room was ready, which was great!

We were staying in a family suite, which actually had a separate room for my siblings and me, with a large spacious room. Now I have a real eye for interior design, and WGB really impressed me, with its laidback beach vibe.

After a nice walk on the beach, WGB has an amazing location, we headed back to the hotel for a swim in its stunning pool! For me, I always love going swimming at hotels, definitely an important feature, and WGB’s is huge, lovely and the perfect temperature from the second I entered. I had a lot of fun splashing about in the pool, and we went back the next day whilst my mum was having what she said was ‘definitely the best massage ever’!

The food was absolutely amazing, particularly breakfast! They had a waffle machine, so we could make our own waffles, which was very delicious and fun (it also means I’ve found one of the coolest inventions ever)! As well as that, there was crispy bacon, sausages, egg, a range of pastries, cereals, bagels (and a very cool bagel slicer to go with – my sister had bagels just so she could use it!)

The lunch we had was at The Beach Hut, were I had a chicken burger and what might be the best fries ever (and I have tried a lot in my time!) The waitress serving us was really nice and friendly, as were the rest of the staff we met.

First night for dinner, I had pork belly, which I enjoyed and the second night was a children’s buffet where I had some nice pasta! For dessert, both nights, I had a delicious, creamy chocolate mousse, which was delicious.

After our second dinner, we were off to the in-house Kids’ Club. I’m not going to lie, my previous experience with Kids’ Clubs weren’t the best, so when I was told I was going to the one at WGB, I wasn’t exactly excited about it! However, the second I arrived there, I completely changed my mind. There were computers, a TV so we could watch DVDs and play JustDance, PacMan, books, a table tennis set and so much more – I had a great time in the end, and when my parents came to collect my siblings and me, I didn’t want to leave and ended up coming back the next morning!

Another really cool thing I got to try at WGB was surfing! I had never been before, so I was very excited for my lesson with the Extreme Academy. We started off with some simple bodyboarding (which was also new to me), and then I actually stood up! It’s such a one-of-a-kind, exhilarating experience, and I really want to try it again. Our instructor was great, and gave my sister and I lots of tips, and a step-by-step guide, making sure we did everything correctly.

Overall, my family and I had a brilliant time at WGB – I certainly want to go again, and I’d definitely recommend it to families looking for a luxurious stay on the beach.”
