What’s on in winter


From ice rinks to carnivals, festivals to markets Cornwall has a lot going on throughout winter. The county is lit up with twinkling Christmas lights and dusted with festive cheer. It really tis’ the season to be jolly!

Eden Project ice rink

19 October – 2 March

Get your skates on this Christmas at Eden Project. Amidst the biomes, down deep in Eden’s heart the ice skating rink is a wonderland of winter fun, hosting a wide range of skating sessions to suit the whole family.


Cornwall Film Festival

8 – 10 November

‘Four screens, three days and one fabulous party!’, Cornwall Film Festival will be taking place in the new state of the art Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay, showcasing local and international films from blockbuster, documentary and short story genres.


St. Austell Torchlight Carnival

16 November

The people of St. Austell come together year on year to celebrate the beginning of the winter festivities by illuminating the town with a procession of dazzling lights accompanied by samba bands and carnival floats.


Truro City of Lights

20 November

Winding their way through the city streets in a great glow of festive lights will be hundreds of hand-made lanterns along with an array of dance and music. This year’s theme is ‘Expect the Unexpected’ so that’s exactly what we’ll do.


Beaujolais at the beach

21 November

The Beach Hut has joined the race to get the first bottles of Beaujolais nouveau. This flamboyant French red is released on the third Thursday of November, and not before, so we’ll be celebrating this tradition will plenty of Beaujolais wine and a typical French feast. There will be banqueting tables, French onion soup, beef bourguignon and tarte fine aux pommes.


Thanksgiving Feast at The Beach Hut

28 November

Give thanks Beach Hut style with turkey, pumpkin pie, apple cider and sea views. What are you thankful for this year?

Fowey Christmas Market

30 November – 1 December

A weekend of great festive entertainment, food and drink along with plenty of opportunities to pick up some last minute Christmas gifts.


Padstow Christmas Market

5 – 8 December

See the Cornish village come alive with celebrity chefs, culinary delights, fireworks and festive fun. Our Executive Chef, Neil Haydock will even be making an appearance on the chefs stage on Saturday 7 December at 2:45pm.


Mousehole Christmas Lights

14 December – 4 January

Noted ‘the best display of Christmas lights in Cornwall’, Mousehole Christmas Lights are a stunning sight, with floating displays across the harbour and throughout the streets. Soak up the Christmas atmosphere, browse the Cornish gift shops and stop in for a bite to eat at one of the village inns.
