We have a fantastic opportunity for a kids assistant to join the team in our Kids’ Zone at the hotel.
This role is to assist and support the kid’s team in the delivery of creative and fun activities for children aged 3-12 years. We are looking for someone with previous experience of working with children, and of delivering childcare and play opportunities. Successful candidates must also possess (or be working towards) a relevant NVQ L3 (or equivalent) in early years and childcare. Knowledge of relevant legislation is imperative, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure. You must also be flexible, a team player, well presented, and an excellent communicator.
What you would be doing on a weekly basis:
Deliver quality play sessions for children within the Kids Zone and XA Club between the hours of 10am – 12 noon and 6.30pm-10pm on a daily basis. Play a key role in the planning and organisation of activities and resources.
Understand children’s individual needs and the importance of inclusion.
Help with the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of our practice.
Ensure that childcare opportunities are conveyed to parents and carers and understand that feedback is vital to the development of the Kids Zone and its services.
Ensure the security and safety of children at all times and to have input into the risk assessments and department policies. Reporting and recording and incidents/accidents of concern, to the Kid’s Manager.
Ensure attendance registers are completed for children, by staff and parents.
Ensure that the cleaning and sterilisation of all equipment used is carried out.
Help in the serving of Early Supper and to ensure snacks are prepared and cooked appropriately and that individual needs are met within the health and hygiene guidance.
Be responsible for ongoing professional development and undertake training as appropriate.
To be available to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays and over the Christmas and New Year period.
Respecting peers in the department and voicing any grievances directly to the Kids Management team.
What you offer:
To have or be working towards a recognised and relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent or above in early years and childcare.
Willing to obtain a Paediatric 1st Aid, Basic Food Hygiene and child protection course.
Proven experience of delivery of childcare and play opportunities.
Proven experience with working with children aged 6 months to 12 years of age.
Knowledge and understanding of The EYFS.
Knowledge of legislation including health and safety, equality, disability, safeguarding children.
The ability to remain calm during busy, stressful periods.
The ability to be clear and concise when communicating with guests, children and colleagues.
