Sous chef – The Living Space
We have a fantastic opportunity for a sous chef to join the team at The Living Space, Watergate Bay.
A wide open yet cosy place, The Living Space is a lot like the beach it overlooks. The restaurant draws on the time of year, combining flavours that are Cornish, traditional British and European. The bar serves coffees, cocktails and cream teas. We are currently looking for a permanent, full-time Sous Chef, to assist the Head Chef in the smooth running of The Living Space kitchen.
The successful candidate will help to ensure The Living Space continues to provide an exceptional guest experience. You must also be passionate about food with previous experience of working within a similarly high quality environment. What you would be doing on a weekly basis:
Supporting and training chefs from senior chef de partie and below.
Preparing food in areas of the kitchen assigned by a superior and to carry out cleaning and any reasonable duties requested.
Managing the total running of the kitchen when required or asked to do so
Helping to ensure a safe environment for both staff and guests and adhering to the company’s health and safety policy and procedures.
Assisting the Head Chef in the effective and efficient organisation, supervision and control of the kitchen operation.
Preparing, cooking and portioning of all dishes to the hotel’s standards of quality and quantity.
Reporting for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and protective clothing and adhering to specified grooming standards.
What you offer:
Previous experience in a similar establishment
NVQ 2 Food Hygiene certificate/training
Basic computer skills
Interest and passion for the food industry
Flexible attitude to working hours and variable shift patterns
Creative and is aware what trends are in the catering business
Excellent International culinary knowledge across various cuisine types

Calm under pressure
Desire and ability to train others
