Insight sessions with Olympian Amy Williams

Insight sessions

On Friday evening, Iconic Cycling Events will introduce the weekend. Meet your support teams, discuss the plan for the weekend and tips on nutrition and hydration.

Olympic gold medallist and ambassador for 2019 Bike Bath and a champion of women’s cycling, Amy Williams hosts Saturday’s workshop. Her talk, My Love of Cycling, covers preparation and finding the 1%’s that make the difference. Amy, who was part of the ‘Tour De Celeb’ team cycling the 122km L’Etape du Tour in 2016, will finish the session with an open Q&A.

You will also have the opportunity to chat with Amy on the rides, sharing in her experiences from winning Olympic Gold to a media career and motherhood.

Watergate Bay Hotel

Staying at Watergate Bay Hotel

Choose your room for the weekend, from house rooms to sea-view suites, and find out what active relaxation means at Watergate Bay Hotel.

Food and drink

Dine in Zacry’s Restaurant. Pass the sharing boards in The Living Space. Eat down at sea level in The Beach Hut.

Zacry’s is the main hotel restaurant. For dinner, choose from a daily-changing menu made up of local, seasonal ingredients and a wine list to match. In the morning, Zacry’s opens for the Watergate Bay open-pantry breakfast.

The Living Space, the hotel’s bar, serves a menu of rustic dishes and sharing boards. Not to mention the extensive gin list. We recommend putting some time aside for a coffee in the view.

The Beach Hut, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has a vibrant atmosphere, panoramic views and an internationally inspired menu of contemporary British seaside food.

Swim Club

As a guest, you have full access to Swim Club, our take on a spa. That includes the sea-view pool and sauna. Call it recovering from the day’s riding, or just a chance to relax. Swim Club also has a list of treatments to choose from.

The Ocean Room, tucked away under the hotel and only available for guests, looks out over the Bay from three floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s a quiet but popular corner, especially if you have a book to finish.

Extreme Academy

If you’ve still got legs after the cycling, get out into the surf with Extreme Academy. Our experienced surf coaches will provide you with equipment and guidance to match your ability, show you to the hot showers and changing rooms just off the beach, then The Beach Hut for an Extreme Hot Chocolate.

Hire is available – surfboards, bodyboards, SUPs, you name it – for anyone ready to strike out on their own.
