16 July until 5 September
The Wavelength Drive-in Cinema is back for the second year running. Bringing you a summer of family favourites, cult classics and iconic surf flicks overlooking Watergate Bay.
Our friends at Wavelength surf magazine are hosting the ultimate drive-in cinema season this summer, with an even larger LED screen every weekend from Friday 16 July until Sunday 5 September.
Pull up as the sun starts to sink to the horizon, and travel back to another era as the credits roll and the waves break on the beach below.
If you are staying at Watergate Bay Hotel this summer, it will be a unique cinema experience.
Re-live the terrifying Boneyard surf session and hilarious hunt for the silver surfer in 1995 surf and rave romp Blue Juice. Hear live shanties from the real-life Fisherman’s Friends before watching the eponymous 2019 film that tells their story. Watch the iconic drive-in scenes in the midst of your own stunning drive-in scene with Grease.
Spend afternoons with the family watching Pirates of the Caribbean, The Goonies and Surf's Up to name just a few. Then, later on in the bill, the critically acclaimed big wave documentary Riding Giants and biographical epic Chasing Mavericks, before rounding things out on the final weekend with the Wavelength Surf Film Fest, featuring a hand-picked selection of surfing shorts. Find the full line-up here.
All from the comfort of your car (with your own surround sound coming directly from your car stereo, via a special event-specific FM frequency), on a giant screen with the idyllic backdrop of twilight over the Atlantic ocean below.
There will also be street food and ice cream trucks, popcorn (of course!), craft beer, live music, and direct-to-car food service.
